*walks over but stands in the doorway hidden by shadows of the doorway*

Shizuka flinched at the unseen appearance and nodded, turning her face up to look at Iori's, her porcelain skin a little paler than it's normal glow. She turned off the sink and gave a weak but glad smile. "I'm alright. This has become almost daily, I'll get used to it.

*Iori forced a smile*
It will take me a while...to get used to this.
*he hesistated to ask the next question*
Are...well, is...the disease deadly?

Shizuka gave an honest and innocent look at Iori, a low cough slipping out, no blood this time. "Yes. It forces my heart to overwork itself to keep up with my body. And that in return pours blood into my lungs. Too much liquid in your lungs can kill you. And when I cough, not everything is pushed out." She smiled, and inhaled slowly, drying her hands off with a towel.

*Iori looked away, trying to hide a tear that was starting to build in his right eye*
I....
...is...there a cure?

"There is no cure." She lowered her hands back to her sides and looked down to the floor, her palms still a light pink from the blood that stained her skin lightly. "But taking medicine elongates my life and lessens the pain."

*stands in the doorway eyes wide with tears in them*
oh Shiz-chan........

*From her words, the tear fell from his eye and hit the floor, though his face had a almost normal look*
I hate to pry into this further...but i must know how long do people with that disease usually live for?

"Onee-sama says until their early twenties or late teens." Shizuka caught a glance of the tear as it dropped to the floor. Seeing Iori's tear wrenched through her stomach. She began to feel uneasy but she stood firmly.

*gasps then covers her mouth catching herself just not in time*

*slowly backs away from the doorway going into the hall trying to stay in the shadows*

Why....
....why must such horrible things...
*he kneels down next to her and hugs her tightly against him, his voice cracking and more tears coming from his eyes*
...happen to such magnificent people?

Shizuka glanced in the direction of the shadows, feeling a presence was there. She swallowed and breathed in, her breath cut short by the sudden tight hug. She closed her eyes, realizing now why he had such a heartbroken voice. Her hand began stroking his back gently as she exhaled and gave a weak-hearted smile. "The worst things happen to the best people. But that's okay... after onee-sama saved me, my life had meaning... I'm glad that I could have met so many wonderful people. Even only once.... I'm glad." Realizing that only in a few years, she would have to leave behind her reason to live and be alone once again, a tear slipped from her eye down her cheek.

*goes back up to the doorway in the shadows*

*He couldnt hold back his tears any longer, though he couldnt exactly tell why he was crying. Was it because he felt sorry for her? Maybe it was that his plan to spend their entire lives together had been cut drastically short. Either way, he knew that this disease that Shizuka had would end her, even if he kept his promise to protect her with his life, and there was nothing he could do about it*
It...its not...fair....

*takes a step closer to them not thinking at all*
S-s-s-shiz-chan..........?
*is crying hard*

"It may not look like it. But... Iori-kun, there's a reason for everything." Shizuka hugged Iori tightly into an embrace and stroked his back with a broken smile, shushing him delicately. It would be alright. People would mourn, people would remember, people would forget. After they forgot, they'd remember the good times and they'd no longer be sad. She turned her head towards Maya, continuing to comfort Iori. "Yes, Maya-san?"

*runs over to her and huggz her*
no i dont want that to be true!!!

*Iori tears stopped running and he simply sat there with her in his arms*
This only means we must make your life even more meaningful.
I hate thinking about her death...
...thats just...beyond my understanding.

Shizuka felt herself become enveloped in sympathetic hugs as her face contorted in sadness for a moment. She breathed in sharply and shook her head. "I'm sorry Maya-san..." she replied, feeling terrible to have had Maya overhear what she said. Tears of her own slipped out as she gasped for air through a sob. "M-My life already has so much meaning..."

I WONT LET YOU DIE!!!! I-I-I-ILL FIND A WAY!!!!!!!!!!! i-i-i........
*falls to her knees*
dont die.......

*Iori reached his arms out further to bring Maya into the heart of the hug*

"I-I... won't die so easily... onee-sama won't allow it either. She said I cannot die." Shizuka felt her consciousness slip from her grasp, overwhelmed with too many emotions. Her body went limp in the hug with a small smile spread across her face.

*Iori caught her and lifted her into his arms, cradling her*
Its okay Maya...
*he sniffled some*
Ill take her to a safe place, alright?
